Undeterred by US-led war, Yemen targets Israel three times in 12 hours
The operations come days after a massive three-way attack launched against Yemen by the US, UK, and Israel
The Yemeni Armed Forces (YAF) announced on 14 January that it targeted the Israeli Defense Ministry headquarters in Tel Aviv with a hypersonic missile, marking their third operation within 12 hours.
“The missile force of the Yemeni Armed Forces carried out a qualitative military operation, targeting the so-called Ministry of Defense of the Israeli enemy in the occupied Jaffa region, with a hypersonic ballistic missile, type Palestine 2,” the Yemeni army said.
“This is the third operation within 12 hours,” the statement added.
Sirens sounded in Tel Aviv and its surrounding areas early on Tuesday. Video footage showed the missile flying through the sky.
“Following the sirens that sounded in a number of areas in central Israel, several attempts were made to intercept a missile that was launched from Yemen. The missile was likely intercepted," the Israeli army said in a statement.
Part of the missile landed on the roof of a home west of occupied Jerusalem.
The Israeli army said in two separate statements, hours apart, on 13 January that it intercepted a missile and a drone launched from Yemen.
The Yemeni army said on Tuesday that it attacked a “vital target” and launched four drones at targets in the Tel Aviv area.
Israel – despite dealing with a significant intelligence gap in Yemen – has recently launched large-scale attacks on the country and has vowed to continue its campaign in response to direct Yemeni drone and missile attacks against Tel Aviv and other areas in Israel, which have escalated recently.
The US and UK have also stepped up their raids against Yemen in further attempts to deter Sanaa from continuing its pro-Palestine naval operations against Israeli-linked interests and US warships in the Red Sea area.
Several areas of Yemen came under a heavy tripartite attack launched by the US, UK, and Israel on 10 January, which included strikes on an area in the capital where a massive civilian demonstration was commencing.
